OUR STORY
Born on the River We're Named After
Rwizi Africa Expeditions was founded by husband and wife Robert Kasozi and Adrine Nankunda, who together bring over 35 years of tourism experience to every itinerary we plan. The name "Rwizi" comes from Robert's own childhood story — on the night of 15th September 1975, as his mother went into labor near Mbarara, the only way to reach the hospital in time was by boat across the River Rwizi. Robert was born crossing that river, and has been called Rwizi ever since. It's why our logo carries a river and a boat, and why the name means something personal every time we use it.

With more than 20 years in tourism, Robert brings warmth, sharp logistical instinct, and genuine adaptability to every trip he leads — along with practical mechanical know-how that matters when you're far from the nearest town. His love of history means there's a story behind every place he takes you.

Adrine holds a Master's in Wildlife Tourism & Recreation Management and a Bachelor's in Tourism, with additional training in wildlife interpretation, cultural tourism, and bird watching. Raised in the hills of Rwampara, she has guided travelers across Uganda for more than 15 years and is regarded as one of the country's most respected cultural tour guides. She was among the first women to work as a guide in a profession long dominated by men — a distinction she carries as she now works as a mentor, trainer, and assessor for the next generation of Ugandan guides.
